A demo is a musical idea, recorded to help other musicians "visualize" where the songwriter wants to take a particular guitar riff. This riff was introduced to my band mates, but at the time I was not fully aware of the idea. I liked the riff, which was influenced by The Strokes' Someday (which I first heard in early 2002). "Last Nite" by The Strokes is good, too.

I found this article in the New York Times about a writer named Kathleen Collins. Ms. Collins passed away; however, her daughter saved the writer's work in a box, which the daughter found too painful to look through. Later Collins' daughter found the courage to look through the box and that experience became the subject of the song "saved in a box".
